Swiss GSA RTW Air Services has launched a new online service, which allows users to print barcode labels for airfreight shipments. Those who wish to print up airfreight labels should go to the site: www.awblabel.com, input the origin, destination, carrier code, airwaybill number and number of pieces for their shipment, and will then be able to print a full set of labels onto plain paper. Walter Richner, RTW managing director, said: "The short time between booking and presentation of many airfreight shipments means customers often arrive at the airport without proper labels. That can lead to mislaid pieces, misrouting and resulting claims. Using our online facility, the forwarder or shipper can easily print labels for any airline, and by placing these on the cargo, help to avoid delays and potential costs." The barcode label generator program has been fully tested with all carriers, and includes special features such as the ability to create air waybill-series with a sub-series of different house air waybill references. "Many people have asked why we have invested in producing a facility that benefits all carriers and customers. The answer is that there was a pressing need for this facility, and it will help the industry as a whole", Mr Richner said. "Our team holds quarterly meetings to research and develop new ideas which could be helpful to our customers and business partners. Most of these studies are directed towards technology and the Internet, with the aim of saving time and increasing quality levels".
