Going courting

Automated telephone technology is helping Orange County (Florida, USA) court officers manage busy caseloads and save taxpayer dollars. Call2Court, provided by Appriss Inc. is a toll-free service that gives witnesses and officers up-to-date court hearing information. Call2Court alerts witnesses when a court event is changed, reminds them when they are to be in court, and gives officers 24-hour access to information about their hearings. This innovative service helps prevent delays, which can lead to scheduling problems, unnecessary work, and additional expense. Call2Court calls witnesses automatically. If they are scheduled to testify, the system will instruct the witness to contact the Orange County Witness Management/State Attorney's Office for more information. The system leaves a message if it reaches an answering machine.

An in-bound feature allows law enforcement officers to call for current case information the night before a court case. If they are required to appear, the system will provide the time, case number, and location of the hearing.
