The UK Government is determined that offices will bring their energy consumption under control. Most estimates suggest that office-based companies spend around 30 per cent of their electricity bill on lighting. Tax will be the stick to beat that figure down, and there are some incentives out there designed to encourage users to switch to energy efficient technologies. Many small- to medium-sized businesses are eligible for Government funded rebated of up to £6,000 if they install energy efficient lights and lighting controls. Up to £3,000 is available for the replacement of inefficient lighting equipment. A further £3,000 is available to firms who fit lighting controls such as time, occupancy and daylight linking systems.
