Search and ye shall find

Search and ye shall find

Electronic Storage Corporation (ESC) displayed its latest innovation, full-text indexing of reports and documents over the Web, at the IBM iSeries Technology Conference, in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, in June. In the past, making a file searchable involved manually identifying and entering the values, or keys, that were to be searched by users. Full-text indexing completely eliminates that tedious and time-consuming task. Instead, LaserVault automatically pre-builds indexes of every stored report and document and creates a searchable database of every word and number sequence.

Users access their stored documents through the LV Web Interface and can enter any word, number, or combination of the two in the Search field. LaserVault then finds every occurrence of that entry in every report, document, and image stored in the LaserVault database. When the user opens the relevant file, the page that includes the needed information is immediately displayed and the searched-for information is highlighted. ESC's Web address is http://www.elstore.com/ and a Flash demo of LaserVault is located at http://www.elstore.com/lvuc.htm
