Ascom's Communication System Division (CSD) in association with BT has launched a Business Telephone Systems Buyer's Guide. The independently written handbook is aimed at companies looking to buy a new telephone system and to gain a greater understanding of the latest telecoms technologies and trends. The guide has been developed in response to research in 2001 into understanding, uptake and the business benefit of developments in telecoms. The research highlighted that two-thirds of the 250 SME enterprises surveyed would benefit from more information on emerging technologies, new products and converged applications. A similar number also admitted that they did not have sufficient knowledge to take full advantage of all that existing telephone systems had to offer. Primarily targeted at the SME sectors, this jargon-free booklet considers a company's current and future communications requirements. It includes a telephone system market overview and advice on what to look for when buying a telephone system. Information on technologies such as unified messaging, computer telephony integration, cordless telephony, voice-over IP and LAN telephony are explained, complete with a glossary of terms.
