I'll vouch for that!

The size of the defined voucher market in the UK reached £1.15 billion in 2001, according to figures recently released by The Voucher Association, the trade association representing the UK corporate and consumer voucher market. The analysis from The Voucher Association also shows strong growth in the UK voucher market in 2001. Sales of vouchers in the final quarter of 2001 were 16.4 per cent ahead of those a year before. There was particularly strong growth of 21.8 per cent in corporate sales of vouchers in the business-to-business market, while direct sales of vouchers to consumers grew by 10 per cent. Yvonne West, Chair of the Voucher Association, commented: "The UK voucher market has been going from strength to strength in recent years, and to record growth of 16.4 per cent in the final quarter of 2001 is extremely encouraging. The strong growth shown by the UK corporate voucher market represents the increasing importance of loyalty and motivation schemes to UK industry. Vouchers continue to be the most popular reward for incentives and promotions throughout the UK because of their flexibility and the range of options available. There are nearly 200 different types of voucher for sale in the UK covering retail, activities, travel and leisure, which means that both consumers and businesses can easily find a voucher to suit the recipient. For gifts, and for companies who wish to reward and retain loyal customers and staff, vouchers can provide an excellent solution."
