In the charts

When did you last draw a process chart? MMMmmm, I thought so – some time ago. They seem to have lost their "currency", yet when I was a lad (well, a newly trained work study engineer, anyway) I found them very useful for giving an overview, and then increasing levels of detail as I moved from an outline to a detailed level of analysis. Sometimes it would be useful now to have that overview of the issue I am involved in – but even if I draw a diagram, it tends to be an unstructured kind of sketch rather than a disciplined and organised representation using an agreed set of conventions. As Terry Wogan (sorry, international readers, this is a "local" UK reference) would say, "Is it me?".
