This must be the third time in three years that I have raised the subject of consultants – am I in an organisation that uses them more than most, or has the gap created by the decline in in-house productivity teams simply been filled by expensive consultants? That was a rhetorical question – no answers required. It's just that expensive consultants (is there another kind) seem to thrive on restructuring suggestions. Is it just the cynic in me that thinks this may be because when the results of any restructuring are known, the consultants will be long gone?
