The United States Postal Service (USPS) recently installed tray management systems (TMS) worth more than $2 million from Siemens ElectroCom in their Seattle processing and distribution centers (P&DC). TMS are highly automated transport and sort systems that handle letters and flats trays within a P&DC. Siemens designed and installed the original Seattle TMS. The new installation systems feed and take away mail from four new automated flats sorting machines (AFSM-100). Siemens ElectroCom LP is one of the world's foremost manufacturers of intelligent, automated sorting and image recognition systems. This ISO-certified company built its reputation in the public and private postal markets but today the company's technology is also used in the retail, distribution and pharmaceutical markets.
