Colour developing

Canon has launched new models in its rapidly developing colour printer range. Along with the launch of the new 6ppm entry level colour copier/printer – the CP660 – Canon has also launched a new networkable colour printer – the CLBP460PS, the latest PS-MX20 controller and the company's first wide format colour printer – the BJ-W7000. The CLBP460PS is a 4ppm networkable colour printer to replace the CLBP360. Building on the strengths of the previous model, this latest colour printer prints at a powerful 600 600 dpi and can handle both A4 and B5 paper from its 250 sheet tray or multi-purpose trays that can be used for 100 extra sheets and A4 transparency film. Using the latest colour controller technology from Electronics For Imaging and Adobe page description language, the CLBP460PS will provide the very highest colour quality consistently. High end printing technology and multi-platform networking combine to produce one of the most creative colour printers now available on the market at a competitive price of £2,695 (exc. VAT). EFI's contribution to Canon's increasing dominance of the colour market is also evident in the affordable colour controller – the new PS-MX20. Replacing the PS-XJ500, this entry level controller is powerful enough for most office requirements. The controller also supports Adobe Postcript Level 3 and with colour management utilities such as Colourwise and Netwise, the MX20 is a new strength in Canon's versatile range of EFI developed colour controllers. Designed primarily for the office environment, the PS-MX20 has similar colour management utilities to the proven PS-ZX range and is capable of being used for graphics and high end creative work. The new PS-MX20 has been available from April and is priced at £8,995 (exc. VAT). Canon's first step into the world of large format colour output comes with the launch of the BJ-W7000 – capable of outputting superior high quality A0/A1 size posters in about 20 minutes. This is the first time Canon has offered such a product and it is aimed specifically at the print for pay sector of the colour market. Working at an impressive 360dpi, the BJ-W7000 uses a revolutionary new ink system designed to reduce the overall running costs of the printer. This combines cartridges and high capacity ink tanks for high quality at sensible prices. Using Canon's unique PS-7000 controller, the user can operate the printer from a desktop using Adobe Postscript 3 from a number of linked environments using either Windows or MAC. Maximum speed and capacity can be ensured as the BJ-W7000 makes use of a continuous charging system to draw ink from a reservoir during printing. The printer can be ready for use less than 45 seconds after switching on and paper sizes from B4 up to A0 ensure a full range of professional prints can be achieved in a minimum time. The BJ-W7000 is priced at £4,995 (exc. VAT). Further information for customers is available by calling 0800 616 417 or by visiting Canon at www.canon.co.uk
