Making no impact

Output Technology Corporation, a US based leader in high-speed distributed printing solutions, has released the OTC6500 non-impact printer, which combines proven technologies that result in a very reliable, robust printer. Combining two innovative technologies for the first time - electron beam imaging with warm offset transfuse systems - the OTC6500 Electron Beam Printer can help make data processing faster and more efficient. The printer accepts a very wide range of media because of its imaging technology and moderate fusing temperature range; and its powered refolding stacker ensures that continuous print jobs are always complete. At 65 pages per minute, up to a million pages per month, this is an important entrant into the high-volume, mid-price, non-impact market. The OTC6500 controller comes with 40 MB of RAM and includes Peerless' QuickPrint 1700 imaging co-processor for faster printing. The system runs under the PeerlessPage object-based imaging system with PeerlessPrintTM5E (Peerless' emulation of HP's PCL5eTM). The base model comes with IEEE-1284 parallel and RS-232e serial ports and has a suggested list price of just under $40,000.
