  • Olwen Beaven and Jane McHugh describe the role of information professionals in producing systematic reviews for Clinical Evidence, an evidence-based healthcare publication.

Off theme article

This issue also contains an off theme article in which Gary Brewerton and Jon Knight discuss an open source reading list system, LORLS.

Next year's issues

2004 issues will include:

  • Libraries and digital preservation, including perspectives from OCLC, the British Library and the Koninklijke Bibliotheek, among others.

  • A knowledge management issue, including some papers from the series of talks being organised by Mark Field of CILIP at KMEurope in November 2003.

  • Papers on lessons learned from JISC's 5/99 projects.

Suggestions for off theme papers are always of interest, themes might be:

  • open source software development in the information field;

  • portals, including implementation experience of commercial systems;

  • contributions to the Over the Horizon series, about technologies/standards that are soon to be in vogue;

  • comments on Internet trends;

  • integration of learning technologies and information resources; and

  • experience with different ICTs as communication media.
