DEK, the world’s leading high accuracy mass imaging solutions provider, have announced the installation of state-of-the-art stencil inspection capabilities in its advanced stencil manufacturing operations. As electronic products get smaller and increasingly complex, the need for error-free stencil production is more critical than ever before.

"DEK has always been committed to providing our customers with the highest quality products," said Neil MacRaild, America’s General Manager of DEK Process Support Products. "This most recent investment in leading edge inspection technology further illustrates our commitment to our customers and our dedication to ensuring complete process control. DEK’s stencil development and manufacturing capabilities are unmatched – not only because of our sophisticated production methods, but also because of our decades of experience in the materials deposition business and our process expertise."

By incorporating this advanced inspection technology into DEK’s stencil manufacturing method, the company is elevating its leading, precise stencil production process to a new level of manufacturing control. "This equipment will allow us to inspect fine-pitch SMT and advanced semiconductor stencil apertures down to 50 × 50 μm, thus delivering to our customers superior stencil products for their most demanding applications," said MacRaild. The inspection system can detect errors with an accuracy of ±5 μm, handle stencils with a frame size of up to 820 × 1,000 mm, examine any type of stencil and locate damage that occurred during stencil use. Positional defects, dimensional errors and missing apertures are also detected with this system.

"As decreasing pitches and increasing component densities become the norm, superior inspection technology is critical to producing error-free stencils and ultimately problem-free electronic products," said MacRaild. "This latest and significant enhancement to our advanced stencil manufacturing operations puts DEK stencil products in a class by themselves."
