Designed to optimise flexibility, performance and resilience, DEKs new VectorGuard™ stencil was launched at Productronica 2003 – driving further the advance in DirEKt Imagings technology (Plate 6).

Using variable foils, superior print performance is guaranteed, as well as operator safety, with the risks from sharp edges eliminated. VectorGuard™ is surrounded by a thin aluminium extrusion that not only means it is much lighter than conventional stencils, but it is also a lot easier to handle. Despite this, VectorGuard™ still offers customers a robust stencil system suitable for long-term usage.
Its rigid construction protects the stencil body during handling as it is fully contained, yet because it does not use an aluminium frame like conventional mesh mounted stencils, which need to be returned to the supplier for refurbishment, VectorGuard™ offers the customer an additional cost-saving advantage. As well as this, it takes up only a fraction of the space, using just a quarter of the storage capacity needed to house a mesh- mounted stencil.
VectorGuard™ is designed to optimise other well established patented tensioning systems as well as support all kinds of customer direct imaging processes. Frames are available in two different sizes 584 × 584 mm and 736 × 584 mm. Backed up by a global standardised business unit, DEKs delivers more than 5,000 stencils per month to over 1,500 customers around the world covering Asia, America and Europe.
