The SMTA has announced its membership's election results for the Board of Directors and Presidential positions for the term that began at SMTA International (24-28 September 2000).
Rod Howell, president and co-founder of Libra Industries (Mentor, OH), was elected as president and has served the SMTA most recently as national board member and treasurer (1992-1999). His service to the association also includes board chairman of the SMI and SMTA International conferences and expositions (1998-1999).
Dr Viswanadham "Viswam" Puligandla, Nokia Mobile Phones (Irving, TX); Evelyn Baldwin, 3M Company (North Andover, MA); Sammy Yi, Flextronics International (San Jose, CA); and Dr Ken Gilleo, Cookson Electronics (Foxboro, MA), were each elected to the Board of Directors.
Those remaining on the SMTA Board of Directors include VP Technical Programs Rich Freiberger, ACT Manufacturing; VP Membership Mike Buseman, Manufacturers' Services Ltd; Secretary Dr Paul Vianco, Sandia National Labs; Treasurer David Raby, Soldering Technology International; and Planning Committee members Don Swenson, Honeywell; Dr Robert Flake, University of Texas; and Gary Tanel, Micro-ASI.
