Panel discussions kick free forums into high gear at APEX 2001

Keyword: IPC

IPC has announced the free forum schedule for APEX 2001.

The free forums will take place Tuesday 16 January 2001 through Thursday 18 January 2001, and will include candid and timely information from industry experts.

These forums will focus on EMS Management and Supply Chain Business, Advanced Technology, Process Control and Assembly. A total of 12 free forums are scheduled, including six panel discussions.

According to IPC Director of Assembly, Standards & Technology, Jack Crawford, panel discussions provide a great platform for learning.

"Panels provide an excellent opportunity to ask the experts, and your peers, useful questions", says Crawford. "The discussion format allows attendees to essentially become members of the panel by sharing resources and providing solutions to problems".

Highlights of the APEX 2001 free forum schedule include:

  • Mexico: The State of the Electronics Assembly Market; Chair: Jesus Amaya, New Venture Research, Corp/ – this panel will look at the current market, barriers to entry, cost economics and base of OEM and EMS manufacturing resources available in Mexico today.

  • Technology Roadmaps. Dr Greg Munie, Lucent Technologies – developed by the Surface Mount Council, this forum will provide overviews of roadmapping efforts for Asia-Pacific, Europe and North America.

  • Supply Chain Management – Architectures & Tools, Randall Sherman, New Venture Research Corp. – this panel attempts to provide answers to "What are the 'best practices' being employed today?" and "What supply chain management solutions are being adopted with success?" as well as other key questions concerning supply chain management.

  • Industry Standards, Denny Fritz, MacDermid – this session will discuss some of the new standards available to the industry, including how to use DPMO.
