Carbon reduction regulations come into force from 1st April 2010 and the carbon reduction commitment requires organisations using more than £500,000 worth of energy each year to register with the Environment Agency. This will affect many professionals involved in building and property management. Starting from April 2011, this data will be used to create a league table where companies producing more carbon emissions than the average will have to purchase carbon credits. The money will be used to reward companies producing less carbon than the average.
