The UK’s Office of the Deputy Prime Minister has released revised regulations to ensure buildings are more energy efficient. It is hoped the plans will cut 1m tonnes of carbon emissions per year by 2010. The revised rules will also introduce a new qualification for surveyors, to accompany the fuel-saving initiative and help its regulation. The new nationally recognised qualifications for surveyors, and the promotion of self-certification schemes, will help to regulate the new rules under Part L of the building regulations.
