Eastern Europe plugs UK construction skills gap

An influx of labour from Eastern Europe is changing the face of the UK construction industry, comfortably bridging the skills gap brought about by sustained growth in the sector, according to the latest RICS construction market survey. Nine years of continuous growth would usually spell acute shortages of labour, but the skills gap has fallen to its lowest level in two years. However the findings of this research do not appear to hold good for the heritage sector (see below).
