Asbestos for Surveyors

Written by B. Sanderson and published by The Estates Gazette this is a practical reference guide to asbestos for surveyors of buildings. It provides them with the background information on asbestos that may not be readily available to the non-specialist in this area. This book is based around the recent Control of Asbestos at Work Act 2002. It is intended to be a guide to the technical aspects of asbestos, the types of materials to be found and why it was originally used. The book will illustrate where it may be found in buildings, what type of survey is required and how to undertake it. Lastly, it is important to understand what information the duty-holder needs from the surveyor to compile an adequate management plan. Although the book refers to the BOHS P402 qualification, the background information on asbestos and its applications in buildings may also be useful for candidates for the forthcoming NIACS qualification. It is priced at £25.00.
