City & Guilds have carried out a survey of over 1,000 trade and professional personnel in order to measure the job satisfaction of different occupations. Top of the list were care assistants but plumbers were joint second whereas most professions (including architects and estate agents) were much nearer the bottom of the list. Chartered engineers were the happiest professionals. Money does not seem to be the only reason that so many people are retraining as plumbers!
