Concrete in aggressive ground

BRE have published new guidance in Special Digest SD1: Concrete in Aggressive Ground which is aimed at construction professionals who design, specify and construct concrete for use in the ground, and ground engineers who assess sites for such concrete. It replaces Digest 363, which, since its launch in 1991, has been widely used. Revision of the guidance was principally prompted by recent findings on the thaumasite form of sulfate attack on concrete (TSA), following its identification in 1998 in the foundations of several motorway (M5) bridges. SD1 is available from www.BREbookshop.com or from CRC Ltd on 020 7505 6622.
