Recent news from the Health and Safety Executive includes the following:

  • In the nine months to February 2001, there were more deaths on construction sites than in the previous year. This grim news follows a few years of declining fatalities.

  • Astell Scientific (Holdings) Ltd have been fined £11,000 at Croydon Crown Court after Kevan Bloomfield received serious chemical burns following exposure to cement while laying a concrete floor. Kevan had to have his leg amputated.
