Edited by Sasha Chapman and John Fidler, this is a directory of data sheets that categorise sands and aggregates by county, colour and supplier. The data sheets are the product of the English Heritage Library of Mortar Sands and Aggregates which was set up in 1993 to enable historic mortars to be matched effectively with materials currently available. The library has in excess of 300 samples. The directory comes with a separate wallchart, is published by Donhead (01747 828422) and costs £30.00.
