Title: Method for three-dimensional fire extinguishing and device for its implementationApplicant(s): Kochetov Oleg Savel Evich (RU)Publication number: RU2456044 (C1)Publication date: July 20, 2012

Field: fire-fighting means. Substance: invention relates to fire-fighting equipment, in particular to equipment for 3D fire extinguishing. Method for 3D fire extinguishing in premises consists in the fact that elements for fire extinguishing are mounted with a charge of smoke-forming composition, which are interconnected by fuse. The elements are placed in the volume of the premises so that their axes intersect at the geometric center of the premises, which is defined as the point of intersection of the diagonals of a rectangular parallelepiped or a cube. A device for 3D fire extinguishing includes elements for fire fighting, interconnected by a fuse. At that the fuse connect elements for fire fighting with a charge of smoke-forming composition to form a closed quadrangle with vertices that contain these elements, and each of the elements for fire fighting is based on a dual-mode nonlinear fire-extinguishing aerosol generator, made in the form of two semi-casings with attachment elements, and contains the charges of aerosol-forming composition placed in the casing cavity. Thermosensitive cords pass through the sealed surface of discharge and serve as sensors of fire, with the charge of the first mode is separated from the charge of the second mode with interlining of slow-burning fuel, which thickness and rate of combustion is determined by the required time of evacuation, and on the surfaces of discharge acoustic whistles are installed. Effect: increased reliability and effectiveness of 3D fire extinguishing system.

Title: An apparatus for detecting fire spot and fire extinguishingApplicant(s): Choi Sun UK (KR); Choe Seung UK (KR)Publication number: KR101051018 (B1)Publication date: July 21, 2011

Purpose: a fire point sensing pad and an automatic extinguishing device are provided to reduce damages due to fire drastically, to reduce costs by preventing unnecessary use of extinguishing materials and to improve a fire extinguishing rate innovatively. Constitution: a detection sensor senses fires. A camera films images of a certain section. A fire-extinguishing robot is attached to a ceiling of a certain section to be movable, and puts out the fire by spraying extinguishing materials on the fire. When a fire is detected by the sensor, a fire recognition part extracts the images relating to the fire in the filmed relevant images by the camera. A location calculation unit analyzes a location in a certain area where the fire outbreaks and calculates the optimal location of the fire-extinguishing robot. An extinguishing material calculation unit grasps a size of the fire part extracted from images, and calculates an extinguishing material discharging amount. A transmission unit transmits the optimal location of the fire-extinguishing robot and the extinguishing material discharging amount to the fire-extinguishing robot.

Title: Gas SensorApplicant(s): Univ Caliornia (US)Publication number: US2012131988 (A1)Publication date: May 31, 2012

Abstract: a gas sensor is described which incorporates a sensor stack comprising a first film layer of a ferromagnetic material, a spacer layer, and a second film layer of the ferromagnetic material. The first film layer is fabricated so that it exhibits a dependence of its magnetic anisotropy direction on the presence of a gas, that is, the orientation of the easy axis of magnetization will flip from out-of-plane to in-plane when the gas to be detected is present in sufficient concentration. By monitoring the change in resistance of the sensor stack when the orientation of the first layer’s magnetization changes, and correlating that change with temperature one can determine both the identity and relative concentration of the detected gas. In one embodiment the stack sensor comprises a top ferromagnetic layer two mono layers thick of cobalt deposited upon a spacer layer of ruthenium, which in turn has a second layer of cobalt disposed on its other side, this second cobalt layer in contact with a programmable heater chip.

Title: Gas SensorApplicant(s): Honda Motor Co. Ltd (JP)Publication number: US2012288411 (A1)Publication date: November 15, 2012

Abstract: provided is a gas sensor that needs no temperature sensor for detecting a temperature of a heater for preventing dew condensation. The gas sensor comprises a hydrogen sensor including: an element housing having a detection chamber to which hydrogen is introduced; a detection element arranged in the detection chamber and detecting hydrogen; a heater for heating the detection chamber by heat generation via passing an electric current through the heater, a resistance value of the heater being changed corresponding to a temperature of the detection chamber; and a microcomputer and a heater operation circuit for controlling the heater. Herein, the microcomputer controls a temperature of the detection chamber by adjusting the electric current passing through the heater based on the resistance value of the heater.

Title: Method and device for fire detection in volumesApplicant(s): Minimax Gmbh & Co. KG (DE)Publication number: EP2469492 (A1)Publication date: June 27, 2012

The method involves filtering air-dust mixture from enclosed environment by using a filter and checking aspirated air-dust mixture for burning characteristics. Functioning of the filter is monitored. Fire detection is performed outside ex-zones, using an aspirating smoke detector system. A signal is generated by a signal processing unit of a malfunction monitoring sensor when the filter is determined as faulty so as to trigger a subsequent action that prevents ingress of an aspirated air-dust mixture with an elevated dust concentration into the detector system. The ex-zones are storage areas/enclosed environments, which are subject to regulations for protection against explosion. The burning characteristics are indicators such as smoke, heat and flame radiation, and combustion gases. An independent claim is also included for a fire detection device for use in enclosed environments, comprising a filter monitoring unit.

Title: Improved sensing apparatus and method related to applicationApplicant(s): Xtralis Pty LtdPublication number: JP2011090000 (A)Publication date: May 6, 2011

Problem to be solved: to provide an apparatus and method in detecting particles in air sampled from a number of locations. Solution: the method includes the steps of determining the flight time of a signal transmitted between a transmitter and a receiver, transmitting a first signal with at least a specific waveform signal, transmitting a second signal with at least a specific waveform characteristic and the change of a waveform introduced at a predetermined point during a period of the subject signal, receiving the first and the second signal transmitted, positioning the first and the second receiving signal at best so that the point of the change corresponds to the arrival time of wave characteristics introduced by the receiver. Namely, the method determines the change point between specific waveform characteristics corresponding to the first and the second receiving signal. In the preferred embodiment, the invention provides the precise decision for the flight time of an ultrasonic signal measured by a flow sensor adopted for a smoke detecting system.
