“Sensors Update 12” is the latest addition to the Sensors series that provides the most recent developments in the field. It comprises seven chapters divided into three main parts.

Part 1, Sensor Technology, reviews highlights in applied and basic research and includes three chapters discussing: “Large Area Digital X-ray Imaging”, “CMOS Single-chip Gas Detection Systems: Part II”, and “Ionomer-coated Electrodes and Nanoelectrode Ensembles as Electrochemical Environmental Sensors: Recent Advances and Prospects”.

Part 2, Sensor Applications, presents new applications of sensors. The two chapters in this section address “Modular Microoptical Systems for Sensors and Telecommunication” and “MEMS in RF Filter Applications: Thin-film Bulk Acoustic Wave Technology”.

The final part of the book addresses Sensor Markets and includes two chapters discussing the “Automotive Sensor Market” and “Market Data – Sensors in Household Appliances”.

Overall, this is a very well written reference text which presents some of the current developments in sensing principles, and sensor design, production and materials. Its broad coverage makes it suitable for anyone interested or involved with sensor technology, from end users to students and design engineers.
