This patent relates to a method and a device for monitoring or for influencing the movement of a vehicle on a path. The method performs a comparative analysis of the desired path and the actual path of a vehicle, and transmits by haptic means an information variable according to the result of the comparative analysis to the driver of the vehicle. The method also includes actuating at least one wheel brake according to the result of the comparative analysis. The method does not intervene with the steering system of the vehicle and the driver maintains full control over the vehicle at all times.
