Ixthus Instrumentation announce the availability of a new low cost short range ultrasonic non-contact distance sensor. Code-named the RPS-400-6, this compact versatile device is ideal where space and weight is at a premium (Plate 4).

Designed to operate in tough environments, it has an adjustable 50.8mm to 152.4mm sensing range, with an approximate 6° beam angle, which enables targets to be detected while tilting or vibrating.

Ability to measure quickly and accurately with a response time of 2.1mS maximum, and an operating frequency of 300kHz, makes the device a very repeatable and accurate sensor. Power input is 20-30VDC at 10-15mA.
