ATC launch a new 18mm cylindrical sensor to solve an old problem. The unique delta-shape housing allows for an extremely compact sensor of only 30mm depth (see Plate 1). However, the 18mm projection allows for easy mounting, the 18mm format being extremely popular. This housing should prove invaluable when up against the problem of space. The LED output indicator is clearly visible in the rear of the unit to aid in setting up the sensor, but no longer will the back end of an 18mm be protruding dangerously from the side of the conveyor.

The Delta sensor requires a supply voltage of 10-30V and will switch 200mA with a maximum switching rate of 500Hz. It is available both as a diffuse unit and also as polarised retro-reflective, with ranges for models of both 0.5m and 3.5m respectively. The body is a compact plastic housing rated at IP 65 and the operating temperature range is from –20°C to +60°C. The sensor is light or dark to operate, selectable by the user, and both PNP and NPN versions are available.

ATC certainly know the meaning of the word competitive and they have recently been responsible for launching into the UK the Diffuse/retro laser for under £100. This new Delta series will also be extremely competitive, while maintaining the high standards of quality that are expected both in the UK and in the USA.
