The Smart Sensors and Integrated Devices program at Wayne State University integrates ongoing research efforts into a co-operative research and training program. This program builds upon existing sensor-related projects to develop a concerted thrust in the area of sensor integration with VLSI circuitry. Projects developing specialised integrated devices for biomedical, aerospace, automotive and energy systems are currently under development. Research into wide bandgap semiconductors, organic thin films, graded pyroelectric infrared sensor systems, magnetic materials, integrated technology and bio-sensors is also underway.
