The UK Industrial Vision Association (UKIVA) is delighted to announce that a new "Vision Help Line" has been launched on: 01763 261419. This new service is for people interested in vision products, systems and applications and is launched in addition to the UKIVA's comprehensive searchable Web site (www.ukiva.org) and an e-mail enquiry reply service (info@ukiva.org).

The help line will be of use to anyone who has a query relating to vision and its applications in industry. Advice on the help line is normally provided by independent consultant Don Braggins. These telephone consultations are quite free when they draw on Don's considerable experience, however, should any chargeable work be required in order to answer a query, it will be made clear before there is any obligation.

Don has recently been "re-certified" for life by the Manufacturing Engineering Certification Institute of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers as a manufacturing engineer with the "Focus Area of Machine Vision".

This lifetime certification, instead of the usual period of three years, reflects Don's outstanding experience of and contribution to the fields of image analysis and machine vision.

The UK Industrial Vision Association (UKIVA) has also announced that a new edition of its European Vision Sourcebook has been published. The European Vision Sourcebook 2000 is a handy reference book aimed at helping the development of vision business throughout Europe.

The book, which contains over 130 full page company descriptions as well as contact details for more than 250 other companies, is designed to facilitate the establishment of trading links between suppliers and distributors of vision systems. It is therefore particularly useful for companies involved in imaging and industrial vision applications which wish to sell into Europe for the first time or to increase market penetration.

The Sourcebook is also a useful, quick reference source for marketing managers in the industry, listing dates and venues of relevant exhibitions, details of magazines which serve the market sector, contact details for related trade associations and market statistics.

Copies of the European Vision Sourcebook, priced £110, can be obtained from Liz Flowerday, Jennie Harris or Don Braggins, UK Industrial Vision Association, PO Box 25, Royston, Herts SG8 6TL, UK.
