Signature analysis in a box

Signature analysis in a box

The SigMETER® from Sciemetric Instruments is the world's first complete, full-waveform, signature analysis system inside a panel meter enclosure (see Plate 5). It is designed to be used in a multitude of applications in manufacturing, assembly, quality-audit and development environments, where measurement is required. From assembly in-process-testing and verification through to lifetime endurance testing, SigMETER® is the ideal choice.

Plate 5 The SigMETER ® from Sciemetric Instruments is the world's first complete, full-waveform, signature analysis system inside a panel meter enclosure

The SigMETER® has up to two analog inputs, one encoder input, six digital inputs, six digital outputs, a data transfer port for PC communications and full PLC connectivity. Typical measurement parameters include force, distance, pressure and torque, although virtually any physical parameter can be measured with the correct sensor.

The SigMETER® captures the entire waveform describing the manufacturing process or component and applies the built-in feature extraction algorithms to pinpoint defects and their root cause.

Sciemetric Instruments is a recognised leader in the development and manufacture of state-of-the-art advanced signature analysis technology designed specifically to detect root cause defects in manufacturing and assembly processes. Many of the world's top automotive manufacturers enjoy the benefits of Sciemetric test solutions, while several have even specified Sciemetric Instruments as their preferred test system provider.

Sciemetric Instruments has channelled years of knowledge and experience into the production of a low cost, powerful, easy to use low channel count signature analysis system inside a panel meter enclosure; the SigMETER®.

The SigMETER® combines system power with panel meter packaging. The large, highly visible digital read out, multi-colour bar graphs, TTL IO status indicators, operator messaging display, and soft-touch menu buttons incorporated into an IP55 enclosure makes the SigMETER the ideal instrument for practically any environment.

The SigMETER® utilises a 32-bit microprocessor and flash-ROM operating system combined with multi-range input amplifiers and a high-speed 16 bit analog to digital converter. The architecture provides deterministic responses to input signal samples of up to 10kHz. Efficient dual-port RAM affords highspeed run-time configuration execution and facilitates full signal acquisition for complete waveform analysis and processing.

The SigMETER®'s flexible and comprehensive test sequence creation functionality lends itself to numerous and diverse applications and industries. With its ability to support several testing sequences in one unit, the SigMETER® can be used to consolidate measurements, calculations and calibrations in almost any gauging application.

The SigMETER®'s integrated encoder support is a key element in providing an accurate torque-to-turn test system. The ability to precisely pinpoint the value and location of anomalies in a torque waveform provides a source of invaluable data in both post-assembly and in-line testing.

Online testing of press fit operations is simple with the SigMETER®. Its high speed data collection, fully configurable triggering and specialised press specific feature extraction algorithms (including a dedicated Press Wizard) make the SigMETER® perfect for press fit applications.

The high precision internal clock, multiple analog inputs and flexible connectivity means that the SigMETER® is ideally suited to almost any leak testing application. In addition, the SigMETER® has been the instrument of choice satisfying diverse applications in the following industries: automotive, aerospace, medical, R&D, domestic appliances, tool-builders, electronic, etc.
