MTE Turck announces the new Banner VS Series of miniature self-contained sensors (Plate 4). Available in 10mm and 20mm convergent mode using either infra-red or visible red LEDs, they are a low cost alternative to simple fibre optic and remote amplifier applications.

Plate 4New miniature sensor goes where others cannot

VS sensors have a powerful, precise beam, making them ideal for applications requiring small parts detection. They will appeal particularly to industries such as packaging, materials handling, general machine building, electronics and semiconductors that currently use fibre optic sensors.

Totally self-contained, the VS sensors have a visible red sensing beam and are suitable for 12v to 24v DC operation. Dark or light operation models are available with either NPN (sinking) or PNP (sourcing) outputs.

Supply circuitry protects against reverse polarity and transient voltages. Output circuitry protects against false pulse on power-up and continuous overload or short circuit of outputs.

The Banner VS sensor has an output response time of 1 millisecond and a repeatability of 250 milliseconds. Green and yellow LEDs indicate power on, output overload, a marginal excess gain or that light is sensed. The black ABS/polycarbonate housing is IP50 rated and has a clear acrylic lens.

The VS series is an attractive addition to the MTE Turck range and will be very popular for those situations where larger sensors simply will not fit.
