A new range of laser sensors with a response ten times faster than conventional optical models has been added to the already wide range of Siemens sensors (see Plate 3).

The Bero laser sensor range offers the rapid response levels necessary for high speed counting applications such as those required by the canning and packaging industry. In addition, the new range features a fast switching capability of 2.5kHZ.

Unlike other sensors, Bero operates equally well in either clean or "dirty" environments. The problematic dust and dirt found in many factories and production plants does not affect the sensor's efficiency.

Bero also offers an extremely long sensing range of up to 50 metres, making it ideal for applications where wide conveyors are used, as in the steel industry. The new range also offers the high levels of precision required to detect small objects down to 0.06mm. This feature is ideal for the electronics industry or any application where small components are used.

The launch of Bero means that Siemens now offers the widest range of sensors on the market which includes ultrasonic and inductive proximity switches.
