Honeywell Sensing & Control has launched a ground-breaking, fully CE-compliant smart precision pressure transducer (PPT) enabling high accuracy gas pressure measurements (see Plate 11).
Plate 11 Honeywell Sensing & Control's new smart precision pressure transducer (PPT) enabling high accuracy gas pressure measurements
Combining 0.05 per cent full scale accuracy and compensation for temperature, the PPT will be welcomed by designers wanting precision accuracy over temperature. A smart device, it balances temperature and pressure changes and automatically increases its update rate if a rapid change of pressure is sensed. It also sets flags for out-of-range pressure or temperature conditions.
This degree of built-in signal compensation makes it suitable for air data for avionics, barometric metrology measurements, calibration equipment and turbine test stands.
All PPTs incorporate both analogue voltage output and RS232 or RS485 serial digital outputs, facilitating easy upgrade. Serial output gives the user the capability to network up to 89 units on a single bus and to interface directly to a PC or other data collection system. Individual units can be addressed and customised. This is implemented using a simple set of commands from any PC with a factory supplied cable connecting the PPT to the PC's communication port.
The Honeywell PPT uses state-of-the-art silicon sensor technology developed for the company's industrial and avionics control systems. The sensing technology at its heart adds unmatched reliability and stability. Added to this, proprietary digital signal compensation techniques give excellent accuracy over temperature and facilitate digital communication.
The PPT complies with CE Standards EN5008 1-1-1992 and EN50082-1-1992, Electromagnetic Compatibility General Emissions and Immunity Standards. Part 1: Residential Commercial and Light Industrial, and Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive 89/336/EEC as amended by 92/31/EEC and 93/68/EEC.
