APIRA 2007 emerging scholars’ research fund recipients

Article Type: APIRA 2007 Publicity From: Qualitative Research in Accounting & Management, Volume 5, Issue 3

Following the highly successful APIRA Conference in Auckland July 2007, we had in hand surplus funds and decided to support a number of emerging scholars through a competitive research fund. Funding up to NZ$5,000 per applicant was made available to provide:

  • eligible scholars with funding to support ongoing or new research initiatives in the fields and methodologies relevant and supported by previous APIRA Conferences and AAAJ;

  • funding to support ongoing or new networking opportunities between emerging scholars and senior faculty; and

  • opportunities for emerging scholars to present their current work for discussion in appropriate fora such as seminars and conferences.

We were overwhelmed with applications and more than twice subscribed for the available funds. In distributing the funds, we have made 24 grants in aid of between NZ$ 2,000 and 4,000 to the following recipients:

  • Amanda Carter, University of South Australia – PhD field work.

  • Ataur Belal, Aston University – Conference support.

  • Audrey Milton, James Cook University – Field research support.

  • Belinda Williams, University of Tasmania – Conference support.
