This is a textbook that will be of great value to SENCOs, and to those thinking of taking on this weighty position within the school hierarchy. This is not a book to be read from cover to cover. It is essentially a practical guide that has very important and stimulating ideas to assist SENCOs in their work tasks with pupils and colleagues. There are key chapters examining the role of the SENCO, individual education plans, learning styles, and literacy. Of particular note is part two of this book which explores and examines managing people. In short it has been some time since I have come across such an eloquent and useful guide in this area, despite the deluge of such practical guides.
