Mallard Creek Polymers announces new acrylic polymer emulsion for printing and packaging barrier coatings

Article Type: New products From: Pigment & Resin Technology, Volume 42, Issue 3

Mallard Creek Polymers, Inc. (MCP) continues to develop an extensive product line of acrylic polymer emulsions to meet market demands. Printing and packaging companies continue to seek water-based barrier products that can be applied via flexography and gravure to paper, board, and films. Mallard Creek Polymers has commercialized Tykote®6152 for use in a variety of food packaging applications where outstanding barrier and press runnability are required. This innovative product demonstrates MCP’s ability to cross-pollinate technology from other markets to serve packaging coating and ink suppliers. The R&D organization of the company is able to assist clients in formulation design and product testing, while offering a wide array of product options.

This new product, Tykote®6152, and all the company’s barrier products are highlighted in a new Latex Products for barrier paper and paperboard coating selection guide. This guide describes products available for barrier coating and for conventional paper and board coatings. As paper packaging customers seek innovation in water-borne coatings, MCP’s approach to developing its acrylic polymer emulsions “one customer at a time” should fit well with the changing demands in the market. The extensive Tykote barrier product line, Rovene paper coating products and the Rovene graphic arts products give MCP personnel many options to provide solutions to potential customers. Details on these products and others can be obtained from the technical data sheets and in the barrier paper and graphic arts product selection guides.
