Global specialty chemicals producer Rhodia has introduced Rhodiasolv® STRIP, a new eco-friendly, safe and high performing core ingredient especially developed for dichloromethane-free paint stripping solutions.
Based on the eco-friendly solvent Rhodiasolv® IRIS, recipient of the 2009 Pierre Potier award for innovation in chemistry supporting sustainable development, Rhodiasolv® STRIP is now commercially available worldwide.
Rhodiasolv® STRIP is biodegradable and requires no labeling because it is non-toxic, non-flammable, non-irritant, and non-sensitizing. This unique and proprietary blend is also classified as non-VOC* according to EU legislation (1999/13/EC**).
Rhodiasolv® STRIP enables customers to develop products compliant with strictest regulations for paint stripping, such as the latest European legislation coming into force in 2010 (76/769/EEC). Furthermore, Rhodiasolv® STRIP provides great flexibility for manufacturers to design high-performance paint stripping formulations aimed at domestic (do-it-yourself), professional and industrial markets.
Rhodiasolv® STRIP is part of the Rhodiasolv® IRIS eco-friendly solvent range already used in numerous applications, including metal and resin cleaning, industrial degreasing, and foundry resin production. As part of this solvent innovation platform, Rhodia is targeting additional applications such as graffiti removal, ink clean-up in printing processes and nail varnish removal.
In addition to the eco-friendly properties of these solvent-based solutions, Rhodia has designed the production process to improve the integration of its raw materials streams, thereby reducing carbon footprint.
