CAS-MI Laboratories forms alliance with Chemical Dynamics

Article Type: Industry news From: Pigment & Resin Technology, Volume 39, Issue 1

CAS-MI Laboratories, an independent laboratory and product formulation facility, has formed an alliance with Chemical Dynamics, LLC, a coatings consulting firm that also specializes in formulation development. Ronald J. Lewarchik, of Chemical Dynamics, brings over 35 years of research and development (R&D) experience in formulating and testing of a wide variety of industrial, automotive, and UV-cure coatings. He has special expertise in developing low-VOC content coatings, low-temperature cure coatings, ultra-durable compositions, as well as thin, conventional and thick film corrosion resistant primers.

“With the launch of our new CAS-MI Innovation Center, we can utilize Ron's vast industry experience in such market applications as automotive, coil coatings, aerospace, appliances, packaging, building and more,” said David W. Riggs, President of CAS-MI Laboratories. “Our analytical and testing capabilities will be an added asset to Chemical Dynamics' consulting offerings.”

Lewarchik has been awarded numerous grants for developing energy saving and environmentally friendly coatings products. In addition to his role as President of Chemical Dynamics, LLC, he is also an Adjunct Research professor at Eastern Michigan University. He has been awarded 34 US and multiple foreign patents and has published widely in both academic and trade journals. In addition, Ron is the recipient of three R&D 100 awards in global competition for the development of innovative coating technologies. “The resource base, personnel and equipment of CAS-MI creates an excellent synergy with Chemical Dynamics,” said Lewarchik. “Together, we can provide coatings characterization to the scale-up and manufacturing of new coatings technology.” More information regarding Chemical Dynamics, LLC can be found on: www.chemicaldynamics.net

CAS-MI Laboratories, along with the CAS-MI Innovation Center, helps entrepreneurs and established corporations create new paints, coatings, adhesives, sealants, and other specially formulated products. Since 1943, CAS-MI has helped companies with formulation development and troubleshooting. They have recently moved into a new 11,000 ft2 facility, allowing for expansion of both their analytical and chemical formulation services. The alliance with Chemical Dynamics will be an asset to CAS-MI's expanded offerings to the paint and coatings industry.

Both companies have experience providing litigation support services, such as expert witness testimony, data review, literature searches, and trial preparation. The combination of Lewarchik's considerable industry experience and CAS-MI's technical capabilities and resources play a key role in legal cases involving intellectual property, product liability, and personal injury.
