Du Pont opens office in emerging market of Serbia
Article Type: Industry news From: Pigment
As part of its growth strategy for emerging markets, Du Pont has opened its first office in Serbia. The Serbia office represents Du Pont's growing market reach in Central Europe, following facility openings in Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and the Baltic countries. More than 500 Du Pont employees are based in the region.
“Eastern and Central Europe are important markets for executing Du Pont's strategy of going where the growth is,” said Ian Hudson President Du Pont Europe, Middle East and Africa. “While this marks our first office in Serbia, Du Pont has had a sales and marketing presence in the country since 1987. Central Europe is a critical growth area for us as we expand our market reach.”
Key Du Pont markets for the region include agriculture, food processing, construction, automotive and refining and petrochemicals. Construction is among the three fastest growing sectors of Serbian industry, according to the Economist Intelligence Unit Report, published in June 2007. The Belgrade site will create a base for newly developed distribution channels and offer accessibility to customers in the rapidly growing markets of Serbia and Montenegro.
