Alfred Bagnall digs deep with an award-winning project

National painting and decorating firm, Alfred Bagnall Ltd, brought an added touch of brilliance to the Industrial category at the recent Johnstone’s and Leyland Painter of the Year awards with a winning entry for their work on a truly immense project. Facing the daunting task of repainting an entire bay at JCB’s World Headquarters in Staffordshire, the project involved cleaning the expansive surfaces before any paint could be applied.

Part of a multi-million pound development, Bagnall’s contribution required a great deal of pre-planning to meet JCB’s tight deadlines and stringent health and safety requirements with teams operating at heights in cranes and scaffolding.

Working around JCB staff and other traders, a site foreman and ten decorators worked on the prestigious project for almost 3 weeks to deliver it on schedule. JCB were delighted with the result and gave some great feedback to the main contractor.

Commenting on the project, Mr Hickman from Alfred Bagnall said: “The project was demanding but all that hard work was worth as we were delighted to win the Industrial category. Johnstone’s service was excellent as usual throughout the project. Teamwork and a positive approach to the task were important along with a constant awareness of health and safety requirements. With JCB employees following us in every morning, it was essential that the highest standards were maintained throughout.”

Now in its 21st year, Johnstone’s and Leyland Painter of the Year act as recognition of quality workmanship and highlights outstanding work from across the industry.
