With Variocrom® Magic Silver K 1000, BASF offers its customers a pigment which is far superior to conventional aluminium pigments used in plastics colouration.

Variocrom® Magic Silver K 1000 currently is the brightest aluminium pigment available. Aside from highest brilliance, it has a distinct light/dark flop without the loss of chroma (“graying”) that is typical for traditional aluminium pigments in plastics when from top to angle view. Variocrom® Magic Silver K 1000 is a pure powder pigment. Contrary to the competition's products (which are preparations) Variocrom® Magic Silver K 1000 can be used in any processing technique. It also shows less flowlines in injection moulding than the regular aluminum pigments.

Customers can safely handle Variocrom® Magic Silver K 1000: it has no tendency to self-ignite and can be processed up to 350°C (660°F). It is approved for food-contact application. Application fields are high-end packaging, film and exterior auto parts using in-mould colouration processes.
