Lubrizol completes Avecia Additives acquisition

Lubrizol has completed its acquisition of the Additives business of Avecia, headquartered in Blackley, England, comprising pigment dispersants marketed under the brand names “Solsperse”, “Solplus” and “Solthix”. In 2003, Avecia Additives had revenues of approximately $50 million. Lubrizol has begun to integrate this business into its existing $100 million paints, coatings and inks additives business unit within the Fluid Technologies for Industry (FTI) segment. The acquisition complements Lubrizol's global infrastructure and current product lines of surface modifiers, flow control additives and specialty resins. Included in the acquisition are a manufacturing facility in Huddersfield, UK and technical centers in England, Singapore and the United States. Transferring with the acquisition are 105 Avecia employees, including commercial staff in Europe, Asia and North America.
