On the one hand, the development of these most versatile coating systems continues unabated. This concerns small, but nonetheless very important steps in the improvement of raw materials – polyisocyanates, polyols, additives, etc. – that lead to even better technical or cost performance of PU coatings, be it in automotive, wood, or other industrial applications. Here, particular emphasis is on the further development of radiation curing and waterborne systems, which are on the brink of matching more conventional solventborne formulations. But on the other hand, novel chemistries are entering the polyurethanes world, providing coatings with novel functionalities, e.g. ultrahydrophobicity, or extreme optical and mechanical properties. For instance, this concerns fluorinated polyurethane resins, or the incorporation of nanomaterials in PU systems.

Thus, it is time for an update.

Following its highly successful predecessors in January 1999 and March 2002, “Polyurethanes for High Performance Coatings III” will again focus on the most recent important developments in polyurethane chemistry and polyurethane formulations for coatings applications. During the 1½ conference days, 15 invited international experts from leading companies and research institutes will give technical presentations featuring their innovative coatings research, grouped into technical sessions on Waterborne systems, UV curing systems, PU specialties, polyisocyanates, and fluorine in polyurethane coatings. In addition, interactive group discussions will guarantee an intense exchange of views and information between speakers and conference participants. Thus, “Polyurethanes in High Performance Coatings III” again provides an excellent international forum for manufacturers and end-users of polyurethane coatings as well as their raw material suppliers to meet and discuss new developments and learn about the innovative solutions which polyurethane systems are providing to the challenges coatings are facing currently.

The conference is divided into the following sessions:

  • Session I – Waterborne systems.

  • Session II – UV curing systems.

  • Session III – PU specialties.

  • Session IV – Polyisocyanates and polyols.

  • Session V – Fluorine in PU coatings.
