Tikkurila Coatings (formerly Kemira Coatings) announces a rapid-dry, one-coat, high-solids alkyd finish which it believes will offer ACE manufacturers the potential to substantially cut both materials and labour costs.

Tikkurila informs us that it has developed its new Temalac HSO 90 coating technology specifically to reduce the impact of EPA compliance for small-to medium-sized manufacturers. An innovator in the ACE market, and coatings supplier to many of its major operators, Tikkurila believes that it has improved on other one-coats to achieve ultra-high gloss, excellent corrosion resistance, and high build enabling higher productivity.

Reported to deliver up to 70 micron dft with a single coat, Temalac HSO 90s formulation claims to equal the performance of two, or even three, coat systems, but with application cycle time reduced by up to 66 per cent. It is said to touch dry in 60 minutes at 22°C, and within 30 minutes at 60°C. Shorter coat and cure schedules also help to reduce energy costs.
