Railstore Ltd, the UK-based overnight paint and decorating materials distributor and warehouse company, reports that it has relocated its head office from Romford to Childerditch (Tel: 01277 814600), a site just outside Brentwood in Essex. It is situated two miles from Junction 29 of the M25 and a few hundred yards from the A127. The move represents a milestone in the company's 38-year history, and comes about through growth and expansion, due in part to its operation of a nationwide overnight palletised delivery service. With scope for further development, Railstore's new premises provide for some five acres of combined warehousing, transit sheds, offices and transport parking. There is also provision for rail sidings to serve this part of their business, as required.

At its new site, the company will provide enhanced warehousing, pick-and-pack and general logistics service, as well as a permanent storage facility for archive material. Storage provision includes a modern anti-static floor, enabling laser smooth finish for high bay and narrow aisle racking. Over 6,000 pallet positions will be installed. Further investment will cover flexi-trucks and extra handling facilities for reel products, with a massive reel clamp to handle reels up to 32 metres in diameter and up to 4 tonnes in weight. Over 2,500sq.ft of modern office accommodation will be available, with parking space.

Recently, Railstore also launched its Windows-based inventory management software system, which offers cost-saving solutions for both warehousing and distribution. The new system not only controls stock, but also estimates future demand and places orders with suppliers.
