Solutia completes acquisition of Vianova Resins

Solutia Inc. (NYSE: SOI) recently reported that it has completed the acquisition of Vianova Resins from Morgan Grenfell Private Equity Ltd. Vianova Resins is a leading European producer of resins and additives for coatings and technical applications. The addition of Vianova Resins strengthens Solutia's position in the world-wide market for coatings ingredients in the automotive and industrial sectors.
Solutia will combine its existing coatings materials business with Vianova Resins (1998 sales: DM940 million, or about $500 million) to create a new player in the market, one with the ability to act as a full service supplier to coatings customers world-wide.
