Primid® XL-552, a crosslinker for weather-resistant powder coatings from EMS-PRIMID Switzerland has gained MITI approval in Japan. Recognised as one of the most stringent registration processes, MITI approval is believed to represent another significant feather in the Primid cap. In an increasingly environmentally conscious world, MITI registration is said to be further evidence of the long-term compliance of Primid¤ to ever more stringent environmental legislation.

The company believes that the worldwide success of this product can now be reproduced in Japan. MITI approval opens the Japanese market to both Primid® crosslinkers and, for the first time, the flexibility of polyester powder coatings. Concern about skin sensitisation is thought to be a major barrier to polyester powder coatings based on the crosslinker TGIC. Although modest in size, the powder coating market in Japan represents excellent growth prospects. Similarly, the global influence of Japanese companies and their product specifications should not be underestimated.

Promoted by its sister company EMS-CHEMI (Japan), the market introduction and promotion are reported to have the full support of the technical service, R&D and marketing departments of EMS-PRIMID.
