A new Zahn No. 1 viscosity measurement cup has been introduced by Weller Patents Development of London (Plate 4).

The most widely used of the Zahn flow cups is said to be the No. 2 cup, for lacquers, clears, enamels and press side adjustment of flexographic inks. However, there are occasions with low-viscosity liquids when the time of efflux is too low for accurate readings. ASTM D 4212 states that this time should not be below about 20 seconds.

As a consequence, Weller Patents Development has introduced the Zahn No. 1 cup to provide more accurate measurement for these products. This completes their range of Zahn cups, from No. 1 to No. 5. All of these flow cups are manufactured to the same high standards that are required to ensure accurate and repeatable measurement.
